
Titans Finish Third At Blugold Invitational
Individual finishes in the top 17 by Andrew George, Steven Potter and Mitchell Bradford helped the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team place third at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational Friday (Oct. 1) at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.
UW-Oshkosh totaled 103 points while competing at the site of this year's WIAC Championship and NCAA Division III North Regional.
UW-Whitewater won the 27-team meet with 38 points. Carleton College (Minn.) finished second with 78 points, UW-Oshkosh third and both St. Olaf College (Minn.) and UW-Eau Claire fourth with 131.
Rounding out the top 10 teams were sixth-place UW-Stout with 212 points, seventh-place Luther College (Iowa) with 231, eighth-place Michigan Tech with 240, ninth-place UW-Stevens Point with 280 and 10th-place Carthage College with 291.
UW-Whitewater entered the meet ranked eighth in Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association while St. Olaf College was 12th, UW-Eau Claire 18th, Luther College 28th and UW-Oshkosh 31st.
UW-Oshkosh's George completed the 8,000-meter race in a 12th-place time of 25:39.85 while Potter finished 15th in 25:42.66, Bradford 17th in 25:44.09, Jason Ford 26th in 26:03.35 and Joe Kehoe 33rd in 26:13.48.
UW-Whitewater dominated the top five individual performances. Warhawk David Fassbender won the 438-runner race with his time of 24:59.88 while teammates Gunner Schlender finished second in 25:10.08 and Christian Patzka fourth in 25:23.06.
Carleton College's Stephen Lavey finished third and Ben Santos fifth with times of 25:13.92 and 25:28.57, respectively.
UW-Oshkosh also had Andrew Strasser place 91st in a time of 27:10.88, Andrew Rathkamp 108th in 27:28.06, Dwight Hosni 127th in 27:44.73, Cody Witthun 129th in 27:45.78, Eduardo Neri 154th in 28:00.27, Michael Kreuser 168th in 28:10.51 and Ryan Dolnik 173rd in 28:14.96.
The Titans race next Saturday (Oct. 9) at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Invitational in Appleton.
