Titans Place Ninth At Gene Davis Invitational

Mitch Pauers placed ninth individually in leading the UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team to a runner-up finish at the Gene Davis Invitational held Saturday (Oct. 10) in Appleton.

The Wisconsin Track Club won the six-team race with 19 points, followed by the Titans with 79, host Lawrence University third with 81, UW-Stevens Point fourth with 84, Concordia University Wisconsin fifth with 98 and Ripon College sixth with 187.

Pauers completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:41 to pace UW-Oshkosh. Trevor Damkot finished 12th with a time of 26:52 for the Titans, who also had Jacob Rost finish 15th in 27:08, Ken Peters 19th in 27:16 and Derrick Rufer 32nd in 27:46.

The Wisconsin Track Club had five of its runners finish in the top six, including Dylan Souder who won the race with a time of 25:56. UW-Stevens Point's Alex Richardson finished second with a time of 26:01 followed by the Wisconsin Track Club's Matt Kuik in third place with a time of 26:07, Alexander Rink fourth in 26:10, Matthew Hupy fifth in 26:30 and Andrew Schilling sixth in 26:30.

Also competing at the meet for UW-Oshkosh were Fabian Salinas, who finished 33rd with a time of 27:46, Adian Welsch, who placed 42nd in 28:14, and Dan Massey, who ranked 44th in 28:20.

Other UW-Oshkosh results featured Nathan Nozzi finishing 46th in 28:31, Jacob Clarke 55th in 29:08, Corbin Bevry 58th in 29:27, Kyle Peotter 65th in 30:08 and Maxim Stingle 75th in 31:45.   

UW-Oshkosh, which competed in the Gene Davis Invitational without several of its top runners, will host the AAE Invitational next Saturday (Oct. 17) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.
