Tobe Leads Titans At UW-Oshkosh Open

Wilson Tobe (So. • Madison) ran to a seventh-place finish to lead UW-Oshkosh in a three-team men's cross country meet the Titans hosted on Friday (Oct. 20) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

Tobe completed the 8,000-meter race in a time of 27:31. Alex Gonazales of UW-Stevens Point took first place with a time of 26:52, while his teammate Hunter Smith finished second in 27:02.

UW-Platteville swept the next four positions as Evan Morgan placed third in 27:06, Damon Trainor fourth in 27:12, Harry Miles fifth in 27:15 and Michael Peterson sixth in 27:27.

UW-Platteville captured the team title with 26 points. UW-Stevens Point finished second with 34 points and UW-Oshkosh third with 77. The meet also involved three runners from Carthage College.

UW-Oshkosh, which rested several of its top runners in preparation for next Saturday's (Oct. 27) WIAC Championship in Cuba City, also received team scoring from Max Kramer (Jr. • Oshkosh), Casey Karpin (So. • Saukville), Steven Stasek (So. • Stanley) and Hunter Hix (Fr. • Madison). Kramer finished 17th in 28:00, Karpin 22nd in 28:28, Stasek 29th in 29:31 and Hix 35th in 31:29.

The meet featured a total of 36 runners.
