Berget Paces Titans At Gene Davis Invitational

Jerrod Berget (Jr. • New Richmond) and Paul Przybelski (So. • Custer) each ran to a top-nine finish at the Gene Davis Men's Cross Country Invitational held Saturday (Oct. 6) in Appleton.

Host Lawrence University won the three-team meet with 23 points. UW-Stevens Point finished second with 42 points and UW-Oshkosh third with 65. The Titans rested several of their top runners for the meet.

Berget finished seventh in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 26:55, while Przybelski placed ninth in 27:18. The Titans also had Wilson Tobe (So. • Middleton) rank 15th in 27:36, Max Kramer (Jr. • Oshkosh) 22nd in 28:12 and Casey Karpin (So. • Saukville) 23rd in 28:29.

UW-Oshkosh's participants concluded with Hunter Hix's (Fr. • Madison) 27th-place time of 29:33, Steve Stasek's 28th-place time of 29:43 and Patrick McCorkle's (So. • Oshkosh) 33rd-place time of 32:59.

Lawrence University owned four of the meet's top-five runners, including Curran Carlile who finished second with a time of 26:25 and Sam Stevens who placed third in 26:26.

Jordan Carpenter, running unattached, won the race of 34 participants with a time of 25:52.

UW-Oshkosh hosts the Brooks Invitational next Saturday (Oct. 13) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.
