Titans Place Third At Warhawk Invitational
With its top runners having the meet off, UW-Oshkosh still
managed a third-place finish at the Warhawk Men's Cross County held
Saturday (Sept. 18) in Whitewater.
UW-Platteville won the eight-team meet with 30 points, while
UW-Whitewater placed second with 35, UW-Oshkosh third with 91,
Lawrence University fourth with 99 and Beloit College fifth with
156. UW-Platteville entered the meet ranked seventh in the NCAA
Division III by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association, UW-Whitewater 15th and UW-Oshkosh 27th.
UW-Oshkosh's top runner in the meet was Zach Adams (So. •
Lake Geneva), who competed the 8,000-meter race with a time of
27:28.
In addition to Adams, the Titans also received team scoring from
John Block (Fr. • Madison), Jerrod Berget (So. • New
Richmond), Max Kramer (Fr. • Oshkosh) and Mike Foust (Fr.
• Oshkosh). Block finished 17th with a time of 27:30, while
Berget placed 22nd in 27:46, Kramer 23rd in 27:47 and Foust 29th in
28:07.
Patrick Klein of UW-Platteville won the individual title with a
time of 26:29. Mathias Werve of UW-Whitewater finished second with
a time of 26:35, while Ben Knapp of UW-Whitewater placed third in
26:51, Anthony Swimm of UW-Platteville fourth in 26:53 and Curran
Carlile of Lawrence University fifth in 26:54. A total of 99
runners finished the race.
The Titans were represented by several other runners as Dylan
Penhallurick (So. • Sheboygan) placed 33rd with a time of
28:20, Travis Beutler (Fr. • New Glarus) 35th in 28:41, Matt
Lawrence (Fr. • Plainfield, Ill.) 37th in 28:49, Aaron
Heiliger (Fr. • Madison) 42nd in 28:58, Matt Champan (Fr.
• Waukesha) 48th in 29:27 and Casey Karpin (Fr. •
Saukville) 64th in 30:25.
UW-Oshkosh competes at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational on
Saturday (Sept. 25) in Minneapolis, Minn.
