Home Meets To Tune Up Titans For Postseason Run

The UW-Oshkosh men’s cross country team will run its final two regular-season races in Winneconne for the seventh straight year as it looks to gain momentum before competing at the WIAC and NCAA Division III championships.

The 2010 regular-season schedule concludes with a pair of meets hosted by the Titans. UW-Oshkosh will compete in the Brooks Invitational on Oct. 16, as well as the UW-Oshkosh Open on Oct. 22.

UW-Oshkosh strives for its first league title since 2003 when it participates at the WIAC Championship on Oct. 30 in Colfax. The Titans took seventh place at the meet last season, following second-place results in 2008, 2006 and 2005.

The NCAA Division III Midwest Regional sends UW-Oshkosh to Davenport, Iowa, on Nov. 13. With a strong showing, the Titans could qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship on Nov. 20 in Waverly, Iowa.

Winning their opening meet in each of the past three years, the Titans aim for more success at the Midwest Open in Kenosha on Sept. 11. UW-Oshkosh captured first place at the Carroll University Invitational in both 2008 and 2009. On Sept. 18, the Titans will take part in the UW-Whitewater Invitational.

During the middle of the season, UW-Oshkosh leaves the state for the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 25 in Minneapolis, Minn. The Titans split up the following week, with part of the team entering the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., and the other athletes showing their skills at the Carthage College Invitational in Kenosha.
