Koepp Paces Titans At UW-Oshkosh Open

William Koepp's (Sr. • Lake Nebagamon) fourth-place finish led all UW-Oshkosh participants during a men's cross country meet the Titans hosted on Friday (Oct. 22) at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne.

The non-scoring event also featured competitors from Carthage College, UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Whitewater and NCAA Division II UW-Parkside.

Koepp completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:28. He led a string of three consecutive UW-Oshkosh finishers, with the others being Erik Hofferber (Fr. • Neenah) who placed fifth in 26:29 and Zach Adams (So. • Lake Geneva) who ranked sixth in 26:37.

The meet's top three runners belonged to UW-Parkside, including Ben Orvold who won the race with a time of 24:42. The Rangers also had Rehan Mahmood finish second in 25:52 and Alec Holguin third in 26:08.

UW-Oshkosh had seven other runners finish in the top 25 as Derek Johnsrud (Fr. • Fall River) placed eighth in 26:44, Kenny Halloran (Fr. • Mount Prospect, Ill.) 11th in 26:55, Jerrod Berget (So. • New Richmond) 13th in 27:00, John Block (Fr. • Madison) 14th in 27:04, Nick Newcomer (Jr. • Winnebago, Ill.) 15th in 27:07, Matt Lawrence (Fr. • Plainfield, Ill.) 21st in 27:23 and Mike Foust (Fr. • Oshkosh) 23rd in 27:28.

Other UW-Oshkosh participants in the meet were Dylan Penhallurick (So. • Sheboygan), Max Kramer (Fr. • Oshkosh), Matt Champan (Fr. • Waukesha), Casey Karpin (Fr. • Saukville) and Aaron Heiliger (Fr. • Madison). Penhallurick finished 27th among the meet's 50 runners with a time of 27:46, while Kramer placed 30th in 28:20, Champan 33rd in 28:31, Karpin 44th in 29:40 and Heiliger 46th in 30:30.

UW-Oshkosh, which rested several of its top runners in Friday's meet, competes at the WIAC Championship on Oct. 30 in Colfax.
