Dewitt Selected To All-Academic Team

UW-Oshkosh's John Dewitt (So. • Oshkosh) has been named to the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Dewitt, who owns a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average as a mathematics major, placed 83rd at the NCAA Division III Championship held Nov. 20 in Waverly, Iowa. His performance helped the Titans to an 11th-place finish in the team standings. Dewitt also finished 19th at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional held Nov. 13 in Rock Island, Ill.

A total of 142 student-athletes represent the 80 institutions that compose the 2010 All-Academic Team. Haverford College (Pa.) led the nation with six All-Academic honorees, while eight schools followed with five selections each. The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference led all conferences with 16 student-athletes on the list and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference came next with 10.

Ten of the top 20 finishers at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championship earned All-Academic status, including top-10 finishers Anders Hulleberg of Haverford College, Ben Sathre of the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) and Steve Kiplagat of St. Lawrence University (N.Y.).

To qualify for the USTFCCCA's Cross Country All-Academic Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top 35 at a NCAA Division III Regional Championship.
