4x400-Meter Relay Crew Sets Record At Augustana

UW-Oshkosh men's track & field competed in its final meet before the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship this week, running at the North Central College (Ill.) Cardinal Combined on Monday and Tuesday (May 13-14) and the Augustana College (Ill.) Midwest Twilight Qualifier on Wednesday and Thursday (May 15-16).

Bryce Smith (Fr. • West De Pere) finished the decathlon at the Cardinal Combined with a season best score of 6,240 points which netted him first place in the two-day event. He won the 400-meter dash (50.75 seconds), pole vault (4.00 meters), javelin throw (39.94 meters) and 1,500-meter run (5:07.29) with a personal best cast of 34.14 meters in the discus throw for his fifth event win. Additional personal bests came in the 100-meter dash with an 11.37-second time and the 110-meter hurdles in 15.83 seconds.

Cavan Dobberstein (Fr. • Manawa) placed third at North Central, scoring 5,161 points. He won the 100-meter dash in 11.09 seconds, the long jump at 6.68 meters, the high jump with a 1.86-meter height and the 110-meter hurdles in 15.44 seconds, setting new personal bests in the 100-meter dash, high jump and 110-meter hurdles.

At the Augustana sprinting events, Danny Vinson (Jr. • Berrien Springs, Mich.) took fourth in the 100-meter dash finals in 10.67 seconds and Rashaad Henderson (Jr. • Racine) ran a 21.53 to place third in the 200-meter dash.

Gavin Fritsch (So. • Little Chute) finished the discus throw with a best mark of 48.50 meters for sixth place. Isaiah Isom (So. • Lansing, Ill.) threw 15.04 meters in the shot put to grab eighth place.

The 4x100-meter relay crew of Joey Kean (Sr. • Middleton), Nolan Milas (Fr. • Virgil, Ill.), Londyn Little (Jr. • Columbia, Ill.) and Davian Willems (So. • De Pere) ran the third fastest time in Division III this season at 40.25 seconds for second.

Henderson, Joshua Rivers (Sr. • Chicago, Ill.), Matthew Eiden (Fr. • Stevens Point) and Little finished second in the 4x400-meter relay in a program record time of 3:09.96. They now hold the fifth fastest finish in Division III this season after breaking the record that was set by Aden Sears (Jr. • Eureka, Ill.), Ryan Potter, Henderson and Little at the Midwest Twilight on May 18, 2023.
