Willems And Rivers Turn In Record Marks At Qualifying Meets

The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team began the final qualifying meet portion of its outdoor schedule at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open and University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invite on Friday and Saturday (May 10-11).

Davian Willems (So. • De Pere) and Joshua Rivers (Sr. • Chicago, Ill.) each hit an Olympic Trial Qualifying mark and set the program record on their events at UW-La Crosse on Friday. Willems finished the 100-meter dash finals in 10.14 seconds which is also the second fastest time in NCAA Division III history. Not content with a new program record last week, Rivers jumped his way into the top-10 in Division III history with a 7.75-meter distance in the long jump. He reset the program record, further extended his nation-leading mark on the season and now sits 10th in Division III history by besting his previous mark of 7.63 meters at the WIAC Outdoor Championship on May 3.

Dylan Gramley (So. • Plainfield, Ill.), Nolan Milas (Fr. • Virgil, Ill.), Londyn Little (So. • Columbia, Ill.) and Davian Willems (So. • De Pere) won the 4x100-meter relay in 40.38 seconds, the fourth-fastest finish in Division III this season.

Danny Vinson (Jr. • Berrien Springs, Mich.) also ran in the 100-meter dash, taking sixth in 10.55 seconds.

Steven Potter (Sr. • Oak Creek) led the Titans in the 800-meter run with a second place time of 1:53.11. Dwight Hosni (So. • Cedarburg) finished fourth in 1:55.17 and Lucas Nicholson (Fr. • Pewaukee) ran the event in 1:56.65 for eighth.

In the 200-meter dash, Rashaad Henderson (Jr. • Racine) finished second in 21.36 seconds, joined in the top-eight by Gramley in 21.66 seconds and Milas in 21.70 seconds.

Henderson, Rivers, Matthew Eiden (Fr. • Stevens Point) and Little raced in the 4x400-meter relay and won the event with a time of 3:12.65.

Caleb Wright (So. • Oswego, Ill.) finished fourth in the long jump with a 6.98-meter mark.

Isaiah Isom (So. • Lansing, Ill.) threw 16.33 meters for third in the shot put and casted 50.47 meters in the discus throw, securing fourth.

Jason Ford (Sr. • Verona) took fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at St. Francis with a time of 9:16.12, followed by Jake Krause (Jr. • Hortonville) in seventh at 9:21.57.

The Titans will head to North Central College (Ill.) for the three-day Cardinal Combined on Monday (May 11) and the Augustana College (Ill.) Midwest Twilight Qualifier on Thursday (May 16) for their last meets before the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. from May 23-25 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
