Titans Race In Final Meets Before WIAC Championship

UW-Oshkosh wrapped up its three days of competition on Saturday (April 27) with nine first place finishes including a new program record on the long jump from Joshua Rivers.

At the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet on Thursday (April 25), the Titans collected eight of their top finishes.

Davian Willems (So. • De Pere) won the 100-meter dash in 10.91 seconds and was joined by Danny Vinson (Jr. • Berrien Springs, Mich.) in second at 11.06 and Ray Talbert (Jr. • Waterloo, Iowa) in fifth at 11.23.

In the 200-meter dash, Londyn Little (Jr. • Columbia, Ill.) won with a time of 21.68 seconds. Rashaad Henderson (Sr. • Racine) finished second in 22.13 seconds, Dylan Gramley (So. • Plainfield, Ill.) third in 22.35 seconds and Nolan Milas (Fr. • Virgil, Ill.) fourth in 22.37 seconds.

Henderson and Lucas Koerselman (Fr. • West Des Moines, Iowa) both finished in the top-five in the 400-meter dash and Xavier Lasee took sixth in the 800-meter run.

Additional track event wins came from Weston Lerdal (Jr. • Neenah) and Alex Peterson (Fr. • Gillett). Lerdal won the 400-meter hurdles in 55.57 seconds and Peterson won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:39.24. Joe Hertel (Jr. • West Allis) collected eighth in the steeplechase with a 10:16.05 finish and Oshkosh grabbed fourth in the 5,000-meter run when Brady Lewis (Fr. • Cedarburg) ran a 15:43.14.

Kyle Wisniewski (Fr. • New London) took second in the high jump, finishing with a best height of 1.97 meters. Zach Zirgibel (Jr. • Merton) also collected second in the pole vault at 4.73 meters while Ethan Stukenberg (Fr. • Edwardsville, Ill.) vaulted 4.28 meters for fifth.

Little won the long jump at 7.39 meters, followed in third by Caleb Wright (So. • Oswego, Ill.) at 7.18 meters and Micah Senior in sixth at 6.69 meters. JV Myles (Fr. • Germantown), Wright and Ben Lissa (Fr. • East Moline, Ill.) placed fourth and sixth with marks of 13.89 and 13.20 meters.

In the throwing events, Gavin Fritsch (So. • Little Chute) placed first in the discus throw with a 49.93-meter cast and Kieran Maude (So. • Palatine, Ill.) won the shot put at 16.14 meters. Maude was joined by Isaiah Isom (So. • Lansing, Ill.) with a 15.81-meter mark and Fritsch with a 14.43-meter throw for third and eighth.

Jake Buss (Fr. • Poynette) grabbed seventh with a throw of 49.77 meters in the hammer throw while Maude threw 48.39 meters for eighth.

Vinson, Henderson, Little and Gramley won the 4x100-meter relay with the fourth-fastest finish in NCAA Division III this season at 40.84 seconds.

Talbert, Diego Villalobos (Sr. • Glen Ellyn, Ill.), Koerselman and Matthew Eiden (Fr. • Stevens Point) ran a 41.57 for second, while the 4x400-meter relay squad of Jelani Lawson (Jr. • Kenosha), Jett Breed (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.), Lucas Nicholson (Fr. • Pewaukee) and Nick Vey (So. • Oshkosh) took third in 3:28.33.

At the Drake University (Iowa) Relays, Joshua Rivers (Sr. • Chicago, Ill.) reset his own program long jump record with a mark of 7.56 meters, which leads Division III this season. His jump would rank 11th in Division II and 66th in Division I.

Oshkosh also sent competitors to the St. Norbert College Invitational on Saturday (April 27) and claimed a pair of second places finish in the 800-meter run at 1:59.73 from Xavier Lasee and a 10:56.92 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase from Zach Nelson (Jr. • Mount Horeb).

The Titans will head to Platteville to compete for their eighth WIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship on May 3-4. Events are set to begin on 2:30 p.m. on May 3 and 11 a.m. on May 4.
