Titans Win Team Title At Titan Challenge

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team scored 242.5 points to win the Titan Challenge team title at the Kolf Sports Center on Saturday (Feb. 17).

After the Titans, UW-Eau Claire finished with 109.5 points for second and UW-Stevens Point scored 69 points for third. St. Norbert College, Carroll University, Lawrence University and Edgewood College filled out the rest of the spots by scoring points. Lakeland University did not score any points in the meet.

Trent Chadwick (So. • Poynette) paced the Titans in the mile run with a second-place time of 4:25.75, followed in fourth by Owen Bostwick (So. • Whitefish Bay) at 4:27.45 and fifth by Brady Lewis (Fr. • Cedarburg) at 4:30.78. Jason Skinkis (Fr. • Seymour) ran a 4:32.23 for eighth place.

Devin Williams (So. • Oshkosh) raced a 49.65 for third-place in the 400-meter dash while Matthew Eiden (Fr. • Stevens Point) and Lucas Koerselman (Sr. • Middleton) took seventh and eighth with times of 50.53 and 50.57 seconds.

Six of the top-seven spots in the 60-meter dash went to UW-Oshkosh runners. Joey Kean (Sr. • Middleton) won the event with a 6.80, the third-fastest time in program history and sixth-fastest in the nation this season. Davian Willems (So. • Oshkosh) grabbed second in 6.81 seconds (the eighth-fastest this season) and Danny Vinson (Jr. • Berrien Springs, Mich.) moved up to 10th in program history in 6.85 seconds. Ray Talbert (Jr. • Waterloo, Iowa) finished fourth at 6.88 seconds and Caleb Wright (So. • Oswego, Ill.) finished seventh at 7.06 seconds.

Lucas Nicholson (Fr. • Pewaukee) led UW-Oshkosh with a 1:54.31 time for second place in the 800-meter run. Dwight Hosni (Jr. • Cedarburg) took sixth with a 1:55.70 finish and Nick Vey (So. • Oshkosh) raced the event in. 1:57.04 for eighth.

Dylan Gramley (So. • Plainfield, Ill.) won the 12-heat 200-meter dash with a time of 22.12 seconds. Nolan Milas (Fr. • Virgil, Ill.) finished third at 22.27, while Michael DeLuca (So. • Kenosha), Weston Lerdal (Jr. • Neenah) and Wright finished fifth through seventh in 22.41, 22.42 and 22.55 seconds, respectively.

Jason Ford (Sr. • Verona) won the penultimate track event of the meet with an 8:35.00 in the 3,000-meter run and Paul Proteau (So. • Riverside, Ill.) placed third in 8:45.85.

One of the Titans' 4x400-meter relay squad won the event with a 3:18.15 finish while the other took fourth in 3:27.48.

Caleb Cornelius (Jr. • Racine) won the high jump at 2.04 meters, joined in the top-eight by Matthew Ewens (So. • New Berlin), Kyle Wisniewski (Fr. • New London), Charlie Nolan (So. • Normal, Ill.), Bryce Smith (Fr. • West De Pere), and Payton White (Sr. • Berrien Springs, Mich.). Ewens jumped 2.01 meters for second, Wisniewski jumped 1.96 meters for fourth, Nolan jumped 1.96 meters for fifth, Smith jumped 1.91 meters for seventh and White jumped 1.86 meters for eighth.

Zach Zirgibel (Jr. • Merton) led UW-Oshkosh on the pole vault with a best mark of 4.73 meters. Ewens also finished in the top-eight by vaulting 4.58 meters.

Londyn Little (Jr. • Columbia, Ill.) jumped the third-furthest distance in program history to win the long jump at 7.30 meters. The jump is also the sixth-furthest in the nation this season. Micah Senior (Fr. • Goodfield, Ill.) finished second with a best jump of 7.00 meters and Elijah McCauley (So. • Belleville, Ill.) jumped 6.84 meters for fourth.

JV Myles (Fr. • Germantown) won the triple jump with a best skip of 13.95 meters.

Gavin Fritsch (So. • Little Chute) finished the 35-lb. weight throw in second with a best cast of 16.90 meters. Steven Wauer (So. • Muskego), Jake Buss (Fr. • Poynette), and Isaiah Isom (So. • Lansing, Ill.) took fourth through sixth with throws of 16.04, 16.04 and 15.68 meters, respectively.

Isom won the shot put with a 17.11-meter cast. Kieran Maude (So. • Palatine, Ill.), Fritsch, Cameron Bendixen (So. • DeForest) and Buss finished third, fourth, sixth and seventh with distances of 15.40, 15.36, 15.05 and 14.73 meters.

The Titans, owners of six conference titles, return to the track for the two-day WIAC Championship at UW-Whitewater. The first event begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday and (Feb. 23) and at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 24).
