Eight Track and Field Athletes Named CSC Academic All-District

OSHKOSH, Wis.- On Wednesday morning, five men and three women of the UW-Oshkosh track and field teams were included on the College Sports Communicators (formerly College Sports Information Directors of America or CoSIDA) Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District.

With the outdoor track and field season completed, the Titans collected a total of 17 NCAA All-America honors, nine indoor and eight outdoor. The teams also won the UW-Oshkosh Give Back Award at the annual Oshcars ceremony on Monday, May 1.

Senior Jamyle Brantley, a Green Bay native, is a Physical Education major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.59. He is a four-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic All-American and WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member with two All-America finishes in the long jump and a WIAC title under his belt. The 2023 WIAC indoor track and field Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete has volunteered with a local food pantry as well as various local elementary schools.

Katie Fruth, a senior from Oconomowoc, is a Nursing major. She owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.92 at UW-Oshkosh. She was named a USTFCCCA Academic All-American in 2021 and 2022. She is also a member of the UW-Oshkosh ROTC program and received the four-year National Scholarship and well as a selection to the Nurse Summer Training Program Internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. in 2022. During her career at UWO, she earned numerous ROTC honors, founded the UW-Oshkosh Cadet Club and graduated from the United States Army Airborne School.

A Hortonville native, sophomore Jake Krause is a Business major with a 3.64 cumulative grade point average. He volunteers as a soccer and track coach at the local YMCA and is a member of the UW-Oshkosh marketing club. Krause was an NCAA Outdoor Championship qualifier in the 3,000-meter steeplechase this season and holds the fourth-fastest time in school history.

Cyna Madigan is a sophomore from Rosendale, majoring in Mathematics with a 3.70 cumulative grade point average. She volunteers at Jefferson Elementary School in a first grade classroom and with Girls on the Run. Madigan earned two All-America nods in the 800-meter run this season. She finished eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 2:21.26 and third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2:10.35.

Reid Marquardt is an Athletic Training graduate student with a 3.74 cumulative grade point average from Peshtigo. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science and a certificate in Spanish in 2022 with a 3.60 cumulative grade point average. The three-time NCAA qualifier is a five-time medalist in the WIAC 800-meter dash and a member of the first-place distance medley relay squad that won the WIAC Indoor meet in 2021. This season, he was a member of the distance medley relay squad that broke the school record at the NCAA Indoor Championships and the 4x400-meter relay squad that qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Brenna Masloroff, a Franklin native, is a Special Education Cross-Category and Elementary and Middle School Education major with a 3.67 cumulative grade point average. She has volunteered with the Fox-Wolf Watershed Cleanup, the Fight for Air in Milwaukee and as a paraprofessional in local elementary schools and served on the UW-Oshkosh Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Arts Core and two residence hall councils. At the NCAA Indoor Championships this season, Masloroff finished sixth in the 20-lb. weight throw, casting 59' 5.75" for her first career All-America honor.

From West Bend, is Social Science major, Eli Tranel. He owns a 3.88 cumulative grade point average. Along with serving as a USP Peer Mentor, he also is involved with the Newman Center and works for the Athletics Department as a student worker. Since he was on both the football and track and field teams, he participated in many volunteer opportunities including volunteering at local elementary schools and picking up refuse along the Fox River walkway. Tranel qualified for both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2023 and placed third in the pole vault at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a best height of 16' 2.75".

The eighth Titan to be named to the CSC Academic All-District Team is Zach Zirgibel, a sophomore from Merton. He is a Biomedical Science major and owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.98. The pole vaulter qualified for the indoor and outdoor national meets this year. In volunteering work, Zirgibel has spent time at the St. Francis Free Walk-In Clinic, the Crisis Text Line, the Habitat for Humanity, the Organization for Youth Empowerment and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is also a volunteer coach at Polebenders North in Ripon. On campus, he is a member of the Oshkosh Student Association and Athletes in Action.
