Titans Compete in Final Qualifiers, Win Four Events

RIPON, Wis./WARTBURG, Iowa- The No. 3 UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team competed in the unscored Ripon College (Wis.) and Wartburg College (Iowa) Final Qualifiers on Saturday, winning a combined four events in two states. 

Track Events at Ripon

At the Ripon College Final Qualifier, sophomore Keegan Cullison won the 60-meter dash in 6.83 seconds, followed by senior Jaylen Grant (6.86). Junior Joey Kean, graduate student Aaron Richardson and freshman Ja'siah Williams took fourth through fifth with times of 6.94, 6.99 and 7.00 seconds, respectively. 

In the 200-meter dash, junior Rashaad Henderson placed first with a 22.34 second finish. Junior Jaylin Boatman (23.00) and sophomore Weston Lerdal (23.06) took sixth and seventh. 

In the four runner field for the 400-meter dash, freshman Fenyx Morningdove took second in 51.13 seconds and Lerdal took third with a time of 51.73 seconds. 

Junior Reid Marquardt took the 800-meter run crown with a 1:54.73 finish. Sophomore Dwight Hosni also placed, taking fourth with a run of 1:57.42.

Sophomore Joe Hertel finished third in the mile run with a time of 4:43.38 as the only Titan in the race.

Field Events at Ripon

Sophomore AK Toheeb-Lawal won the long jump with a best mark of 7.21 meters. Freshmen Sebastian Jefferson and Caleb Wright took fourth and eighth with jumps of 6.77 and 6.35 meters, respectively. 

In the pole vault, a 4.92-meter vault from senior Eli Tranel earned him second place, followed in fourth by sophomore Zach Zirgibel (4.67).

Freshmen Isaiah Isom and Kieran Maude finished the shot put in fifth and sixth with throws of 14.47 and 14.35 meters, respectively.

Track Events at Wartburg

Down in Wartburg, junior Elijah Pena took seventh in the 60-meter hurdles, running the event in 8.40 seconds. 

Looking Forward

The qualifiers for the national indoor championships will be announced on Sunday at 6 p.m. CT on NCAA.com. The Division III Championships will take place at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. on March 10-11.
