Wilburn Selected As WIAC Track & Field Athlete Of The Week

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference picked UW-Oshkosh senior Jonathan Wilburn as one of its two Kwik Trip Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week award winners for meets held Feb. 7-13.

Wilburn, the league's top field performer for the week, improved his NCAA Division III-leading measurement in the triple jump with his winning distance at the UW-Whitewater Midwest ELITE Invitational on Feb. 12.

Wilburn, a two-time Division III indoor All-American, defeated 18 other contestants with his victorious skip of 49-6 1/4. UW-Whitewater's Shelvin Garrett placed second in the event with a mark of 47-5.

UW-Oshkosh, the top-ranked Division III program in this season's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Indoor Rating Index, won the nine-team meet with 108.75 points.

Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) finished second to the Titans with 104.25 points while 16th-ranked UW-Whitewater placed third with 102.25, 19th-ranked UW-La Crosse fourth with 94 and third-ranked Wartburg College (Iowa) fifth with 53.

David Fassbender of UW-Whitewater was named the WIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
