Titans Earn 32 Top-Eight Listings At Rex Foster Invitational

UW-Oshkosh's Jaylen Grant in the 100-meter dash, Jackson Sheckler in the shot put and Jonathan Wilburn in the triple jump all recorded this season's second-best NCAA Division III outdoor performance at the UW-Whitewater Rex Foster Men's Track & Field Twilight Invitational held Friday (April 2).

All three Titans were victorious as Grant defeated 27 other contestants in the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.60 seconds, Sheckler 27 other participants in the shot put with his measurement of 55-5 3/4 and Wilburn nine other challengers in the triple jump with his distance of 47-8.

UW-Oshkosh totaled seven first- and six second-place finishes among its 32 top-eight listings at the meet. The Titans also had finished third in an event three times.

Team scores were not tabulated for the meet, which involved participants from Milwaukee School of Engineering, UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Whitewater and Wheaton College (Ill.) in addition to UW-Oshkosh.

UW-Oshkosh possessed three of the top-five place winners in the 100-meter dash. In addition to Grant the Titans had Robert Ogbuli finish fourth and Joseph Kean fifth with times of 10.88 seconds, respectively. Jaylin Boatman qualified for the event's final with his time of 10.78 seconds, but chose not to run after earning the nation's ninth-fastest sprint.

The Titans had three of the top-six place winners in the 400-meter run. Todd Beadle defeated 12 other competitors in the race with his first-place time of 49.16 seconds while Amitai Wheat finished fifth at 50.72 and Bo Koehn sixth at 51.61.

In the 1,500-meter run, UW-Oshkosh owned four of the event's top-eight finishers. Steven Potter won the race of 42 runners with his time of 4:03.30 while Andrew George placed third in 4:04.39, Andrew Rathkamp fifth in 4:08.28 and Noah O'Neill eighth in 4:13.67.

UW-Oshkosh had two other event winners – Jamyle Brantley in the long jump and Ryan Potter in the 800-meter run.

Brantley defeated 17 other competitors in the long jump with his winning leap of 22-11. Titans Joshua Rivers finished third and Roman Hill seventh with measurements of 22-7 and 21-6 3/4, respectively.

Ryan Potter outran 31 other participants in the 800-meter run with his first-place time of 1:56.00. UW-Oshkosh's Reid Marquardt finished seventh in the event with a time of 1:59.98.

UW-Oshkosh's six second-place finishes included Jack Flynn's measurement of 156-4 in the discus and Eli Tranel's height of 15-2 1/4 in the pole vault. Flynn's performance ranks eighth in Division III this season and Tranel's ninth.

The Titans also received second-place efforts of 22.2 seconds in the 200-meter dash from Brett Clavijo, 15.53 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles from Kunmi Olatunde and 50-3 1/4 in the shot put from Nick Tegtmeier.

UW-Oshkosh's 1,600-meter relay of Marquardt, O'Neill, Rathkamp and Cody Witthun contributed a second-place listing with their time of 3:33.21.

UW-Oshkosh additionally had Mason Wallschlaeger finish fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.67 seconds, Oneil Isaac sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.36 and Joshua Jones seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 44-4 3/4.

The Titans' eighth-place finishes were completed with the performances of 125-8 in the discus from Sheckler, 23.18 seconds in the 200-meter dash from Evan Wendland, 9:59.19 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase from Jason Ford, 42-0 1/2 in the shot put from Jack Malloy and 158-4 in the hammer throw from Mason Resch.

UW-Oshkosh returns to action at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 10.
