Six Titans Acquire USTFCCCA All-Academic Award

Six members of the UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team received All-Academic recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Named to the organization's NCAA Division III All-Academic Team for the 2019-20 season were Titans Jamyle Brantley, Ethan Burch, Cody Chadwick, Zach Emmer, Andrew George and Eli Tranel. This is Emmer's third time on the team and Brantley's second.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA's Track & Field All-Academic Team, student-athletes must own a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and have either competed in an NCAA Indoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 of an individual event or in the national top 35 of a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order list.

Brantley, who owns a 3.390 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a sophomore physical education major, is a graduate of Green Bay East High School. Brantley was seeded eighth in the long jump at the Division III Indoor Championship following his victorious and season-best leap of 23-9 1/2 at the WIAC Championship; however, the National Championship was cancelled due to the world-wide coronavirus pandemic.

Burch, a freshman physics and engineering major from Oconomowoc, achieved a 3.597 cumulative GPA. Bruch received All-America recognition in the 1,600-meter relay. The relay team consisted of Todd Beadle, Adrian Girone, Amitai Wheat and Burch. They were seeded second for the national meet with their season-best time of 3:16.83 from the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge.

Chadwick, a junior, holds a 3.334 cumulative GPA as an accounting major. The Poynette High School graduate ranked 41st nationally in the indoor 5,000-meter run (14:57.17) this past year.

Emmer, a psychology major, is a senior with a 3.330 cumulative GPA. The Fond du Lac High School graduate placed third at the WIAC Championship with his season-best measurement of 15-9 ¼. This was good for a 17th place ranking nationally and a spot at the National Championship.

George possesses a 3.353 cumulative GPA as a sophomore secondary education major. The DeForest High School alumna qualified for the National Championship in the mile after he finished third in the mile run at the WIAC Championship with a season-best time of 4:15.35

Tranel, a freshman, has a 3.933 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major. The West Bend West High School graduate ranked 15th nationally and qualified for the National Championship. He had a stellar performance at the Midwest ELITE Invitational with a 4.82m mark.

Overall, there were 325 men from 107 institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes.

There were seven different programs with eight or more All-Academic Athletes, led by Washington (Mo.) with 17. Others with eight or more honorees were Williams (13), Nebraska Wesleyan (11), MIT(9), WPI (8), Ithaca (8) and North Central (Ill.) (8).
