Titan Men Well Represented At Outdoor Nationals

UW-Oshkosh will have 22 entries at the NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Thursday-Saturday (May 23-25) in La Crosse.

Six Titans qualified in the shot put, led by #2 seed Nick Baatz (60-5), #5 Pete Delzer (57-11.25) and #6 Nick Grosskopf (56-9.25). Lewis Prior is seeded eighth at 56-5.75, along with Jeremy Brandt 10th at 55-8.5 and Zachary Baehman 14th at 54-9.5.

In the discus, Prior is ranked third at 182-4, Baatz seventh at 169-6 and Delzer 19th at 161-8. Scott Heinz earned the 16th seed at 165-10.

Delzer's third event will be the hammer throw, where he qualified seventh with a distance of 193-4. Joe Brunner also will compete in the hammer throw with his 16th-ranked toss of 187-3.

Donald Klitz gained a spot in two competitions. He is seeded third in the high jump at 6-11 and fourth in the triple jump at 49-7. UW-Oshkosh will also have ninth-seeded John McCann in the high jump (6-9.75) and Lee Robinson in the triple jump (48-0).

UW-Oshkosh qualified in the top-seven for both relays. The 1,600-meter team of Brian Beaudo, Mike Servais, Corey Wilch and Reid Zanoya ranks fifth at 3:12.68. The 400-meter group of Zanoya, Naji Allan, Quentin Badger and Ryan Sprenger lists seventh at 41.35.

Other individuals competing for the Titans are #4 Jake Dickmann in the pole vault (16-1.75), #6 Wilch in the 400-meter hurdles (52.20), #10 John Dewitt in the 10,000-meter run (30:05.57) and #17 Jordan Carpenter in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:07.84).

UW-Oshkosh won the national title during 2009. The Titans have placed in the top-10 for the last 10 seasons.
