Baatz Sets School Shot Put Record

Nick Baatz broke one school record and the 1,600-meter relay nearly broke another at the Eagle Track & Field Open on Friday (May 10) in La Crosse. No team scores were kept.

Baatz won the shot put with a program-best distance of 59-11.25. UW-Oshkosh also received victories from Quentin Badger in the 200-meter dash (22.06) and Corey Wilch in the 400-meter hurdles (52.47).

During the 1,600-meter relay, Wilch, Brian Beaudo, Mike Servais and Reid Zanoya finished second with a time of 3:12.68 – just 0.03 seconds off the school record.

Other second-place finishes came from Nick Grosskopf in the shot put at 56-6.75 and Adam Krumberger in the high jump at 6-4.75.

The Titans continued their success in the field events, getting third-place results from Jonathan Jordan in the long jump (22-1), Lewis Prior in the discus (168-5) and Kyle Schueller in the triple jump (46-7.5).

Baatz added a pair of strong finishes in the other throwing events. He listed fourth with the discus at 166-0 and fifth in the hammer throw at 184-6.

UW-Oshkosh will compete at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Thursday (May 16).
