Baatz Earns WIAC Field Athlete Of The Week Award

UW-Oshkosh's Nick Baatz (Sr. • Brownsville) has been chosen as one of two WIAC Athlete of the Week award winners for track & field events held April 8-14.

Baatz won a pair of throwing events and placed sixth in another as UW-Oshkosh captured the team title at the UW-Platteville Invitational held April 13.

Baatz took first place in the discus with a distance of 162-8. He defeated 46 other contestants, including UW-Oshkosh's Lewis Prior (Sr. • Coleman), who finished second with a mark of 161-9.

In the shot put, Baatz recorded a winning measurement of 55-2. UW-Oshkosh's Pete Delzer (Sr. • Oconto Falls) finished second among the event's 41 contestants with a distance of 54-10.

Baatz also finished sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 170-6.

UW-Oshkosh scored 160 points to win the 11-team meet. UW-La Crosse placed second with 152.5 points and UW-Platteville third with 110.5.

Thurgood Dennis of UW-Eau Claire was named the WIAC Track Athlete of the Week.
