Three Titans Victorious At Open Meets

John Cejka (Jr. • Wausau) beat 59 other men in the 400-meter dash as UW-Oshkosh competed in a pair of track & field meets on Friday (May 11). Titans took part in the Dr. Keeler Open (Naperville, Ill.) and the UW-La Crosse Open.

At the Keeler Open, Cejka ran a 47.89 for first place in the 400 meters. His time ranks 10th in the nation this year.

UW-Oshkosh posted two victories at the UW-La Crosse Open. Nick Baatz (Jr. • Brownsville) triumphed in the shot put with a 57-7 1/2. Donald Klitz (Jr. • Markesan) then tied for first in the high jump at 6-6 1/4.

Throwers accounted for more strong finishes in La Crosse. Pete Delzer (Jr. • Oconto Falls) placed second in the hammer throw (199-7), fourth in the shot put (52-4 3/4) and fifth in the discus (160-11). Ben Ludtke (Sr. • Lyons) added a third-place mark in the hammer throw at 196-6, while Baatz came in fourth with his discus of 165-8.

The Titans ran well at the Keeler Open track events. In the 400-meter relay, UW-Oshkosh listed second at 41.54. Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha) also gained third place in the 400-meter hurdles (53.04) and Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) earned fourth in the 400-meter dash at 48.40.

UW-Oshkosh wraps up its regular season with a final qualifier on Friday (May 18) in Oshkosh.
