Relay Squads Place 5th, 18th At Drake Relays
Reid Zanoya (Fr. • Monticello) anchored UW-Oshkosh's
1,600-meter relay team that established a school record with their
fifth-place performance at the Drake
Relays held this past weekend (April 26-28) in Des Moines,
Iowa.
Zanoya and teammates Brian Beaudo (Fr. • Fort Atkinson), John
Cejka (Jr. • Wausau), Corey Wilch (So. • Waukesha) ran to
a time of 3:12.65 in the College Division of the 1,600-meter relay.
The quartet's effort broke a UW-Oshkosh record that was set in 1984
by Dan O'Hearn, Ken Ramirez, Todd Resler and Neil Taylor.
UW-Eau Claire won the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:10.75,
while Lincoln University (Mo.) finished second in 3:11.31, North
Central College (Ill.) third in 3:11.65 and UW-La Crosse fourth in
3:11.96. The event featured 29 teams.
UW-Oshkosh also had its 400-meter relay team place 18th in the
men's track and field meet with a time of 42.56 seconds. Members of
the group were Quentin Badger (So. • Madison), Alex DeWitt
(Jr. • Howard), Ryan Sprenger (So. • Larsen) and Collin
Worm (Fr. • Menasha). Lincoln University won the event with a
time of 39.57, while Doane College (Neb.) placed second among the
28 competing teams with a mark of 40.78 and UW-Whitewater third in
41.04.
