Lawrence Wins 800-Meter Run At Gina Relays

Matt Lawrence (So. • Plainfield, Ill.) defeated 63 other contestants to win the 800-meter run title at the Gina Relays held this past weekend (April 26-28) in Hillsdale, Mich.

Lawrence completed the 800-meter race in a time of 1:53.21, while Colin Pettiford of Kent State University (Ohio) finished second in 1:53.49. Kyle Allinder of Macomb Community College (Ill.) placed third with a time of 1:54.06, Brett DeNure (Jr. • Monroe) of UW-Oshkosh fourth in 1:54.12 and Benny Swift of St. Norbert College fifth in 1:54.34.

The Titans were also represented in the men's track and field meet by John Dewitt (Jr. • Oshkosh) and Tyler Morey (Sr. • Combined Locks).

Dewitt finished seventh in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 30:14.30. Nathan Martin, running unattached, won the event of 30 participants with a time of 29:36.65. Devin Monson of Hamline University (Minn.) placed second with a time of 29:37.13 and Dan Kerr of Calvin College (Mich.) third in 29:42.36.

Morey ranked 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:09.25. James Zeuch of the Brooks Track Club won the race with a time of 8:55.51, while Chris Dulhanty of the Guelph Track Club placed second in 8:59.17. The event featured 27 runners.
