Titans Capture Rain-Soaked UW-Oshkosh Invitational
UW-Oshkosh overcame seven opponents and the weather to win the
rain-soaked UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Friday (April 22) at J.J.
Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
The Titans piled up 178 points to capture the eight-team meet.
Carthage College placed second with 89 points, while UW-Stevens
Point finished third with 78.5, UW-Platteville fourth with 32.5,
Lawrence University fifth with 30. Ripon College sixth with 23,
Concordia University Wisconsin seventh with 22 and Milwaukee School
of Engineering eighth with four.
Taking first place for UW-Oshkosh were Chris Lipke (Sr. •
Wautoma) in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 54.21, Lewis Prior
(Jr. • Coleman) in the discus with a fling of 160-7, Pete
Delzer (So. • Oconto Falls) in the shot put with a launch of
50-11, Tyler Morey (Jr. • Combined Locks) in the 5,000-meter
run in a time of 15:13.76 and Donald Klitz (So. • Markesan) in
the triple jump with a distance of 45-0 1/2 and in the javelin with
a toss of 156-10.
The Titans also had the winning 400-meter relay foursome of Ryan
Sprenger (Fr. • Larsen), Brent Jude (Sr. • Milwaukee),
John Cejka (So. • Wausau) and Quentin Badger (Fr. •
Madison) cross the finish line in a time of 44.14.
Second-place performances for the Titans went to Nate Stymiest
(Jr. • Oconto Falls) in the 1,500-meter run in a time of
4:03.95, Corey Wilch (Fr. • Waukesha) in the 400-meter hurdles
in a time of 55.36, Nick Baatz (So. • Brownsville) in the
discus with a cast of 160-1, Tony Baker (Sr. • Oshkosh) in the
hammer throw with a heave of 181-7, Blaise Dueling (So. •
Greenfield) in the long jump with a distance of 22-1 3/4 and John
Dewitt (So. • Oshkosh) in the 5,000-meter run in a time of
15:21.08.
UW-Oshkosh collected third-place offerings from David Edwards (Sr.
• Waterford) in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 55.93,
Baker in the discus with a mark of 157-8, Alan German (Jr. •
West Bend) in the javelin with a toss of 145-2, Baatz in the shot
put with a heave of 50-6 1/4 and Jake Dickmann (So. •
Kewaskum) in the high jump with a height of 6-0 3/4.
The Titans received fourth-place results from Kris Wilke (Jr.
• Waterloo) in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 58.62,
German in the long jump with a mark of 21-5 1/2, Dickmann in the
pole vault with a height of 14-2 3/4 and Jacob Keehan (Sr. •
Green Bay) in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:29.11.
Capturing fifth place for the Titans included Kenny Halloran (Fr.
• Mt. Prospect, Ill.) in the 1,500-meter run in a time of
4:08.95, Matt Lawrence (Fr. • Plainfield, Ill.) in the
800-meter run in a time of 2:01.90, Delzer in the discus with a
toss of 145-4, Ben Luedtke (Jr. • Lyons) in the hammer throw
with a cast of 176-3 and Sprenger in the long jump with a leap of
21-3 1/4.
UW-Oshkosh enjoyed sixth-place performances by John Block (Fr.
• Madison) in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:09.24, Ryan
Gregory (Fr. • Mahtomedi, Minn.) in the 400-meter dash in a
time of 53.00, Derek Vanden Langenberg (Fr. • De Pere) in the
triple jump with a mark of 40-11 and Mark Allen (So. • Port
Washington) in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:51.55.
Seventh-place results for the Titans were achieved by Jeremy
Brandt (Fr. • Wausau) in the discus with a mark of 137-7 and
the shot put with a cast of 44-8 3/4. Baker placed eighth in the
shot put with a heave of 44-6.
