Warhawks Conquer Titans

Kevin Lewis was the lone UW-Oshkosh winner during the Titans' 8-1 loss to the UW-Whitewater men's tennis team on Friday (April 18) in La Crosse.

Lewis earned his victory by defeating Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman by scores of 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. The win improved Lewis' singles record to 16-3 on the season.

UW-Oshkosh (12-7) lost a pair of 8-6 decisions in doubles play. On the short end of the narrow setbacks were Lewis and Bobby Brooks to Byron Balkin and Jake Humphreys in the first flight and Mike Gillespie and Aidan Sauberlich to Martin Beck and Ben Shklyar in the second.

The UW-Whitewater tandem of Kevin Friend and Cam Laktash defeated Jason Alexander and Matt Brooks by an 8-4 result at No. 3 doubles.

UW-Whitewater (17-7), which defeated UW-Oshkosh by a 7-2 score on Feb. 22, received a 6-2, 6-2 win from Balkin over Bobby Brooks at No. 1 singles.

The Warhawks also received individual victories from Brian Klein in the third flight, Beck in the fourth, Michael Schnarr in the fifth and Laktash in the sixth.

Klein defeated Gillespie, 6-1, 6-2, while Beck ousted Sauberlich, 6-1, 6-4. Schnarr recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win over Alexander and Laktash a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Alex Yang.

UW-Oshkosh remains in La Crosse to play UW-Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse on Saturday (April 19). Victories in both matches could help the Titans' NCAA Division III postseason chances.
