Titans Record Fifth Shutout Of Season

It was another shutout for UW-Oshkosh as the Titans defeated the Concordia University Wisconsin men's tennis team, 9-0, on Friday (March 7) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.

The shutout of the Falcons was UW-Oshkosh's fifth of the season. The Titans previously posted 9-0 wins over Lawrence University, Lake Forest College (Ill.), St. Norbert College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

UW-Oshkosh (7-3) lost only three games to Concordia University Wisconsin (1-5) in doubles action. Winning by 8-1 scores were Bobby Brooks and Kevin Lewis over Russell Johnson and Skip Turner in the first flight, Mike Gillespie and Aidan Sauberlich over Tanner Hahn and Benjamin Nommensen in the second and Jason Alexander and Matt Brooks over Robert Spiering and Garrett Wells in the third.

Individually, UW-Oshkosh received 6-1, 6-1 wins from Lewis over Turner in the second flight and Sauberlich over Hahn in the third. The Titans' Alex Yang won by a 6-2, 6-2 result over Wells in the fifth flight and Alexander by a 7-5, 6-1 decision over Nommensen in the fourth.

Bobby Brooks and Adam Martin outlasted their opponent at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Brooks marked a 6-4, 1-6 (12-10) win over Johnson, while Martin tallied a 5-7, 6-3 (10-5) triumph over Spiering.

The Titans have now won their last 10 matches against the Falcons.

UW-Oshkosh goes for a fourth straight victory when it hosts Carroll University on Saturday (March 8) at the Oshkosh YMCA Tennis Center.
