Titans Nearly Perfect In Win Over Cardinals

Bobby Brooks (So. • Neenah) and Kevin Lewis (So. • Howard) topped their singles opponents by a combined score of 24-4 during UW-Oshkosh's 8-1 men's tennis victory over North Central College (Ill.) on Sunday (March 18) in Orlando, Fla.

In the first flight, Brooks tallied a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Matt Boguslawski. Lewis later captured sets of 6-2 and 6-0 to take down Eric McKee in the second flight. Brooks and Lewis then teamed up for an 8-3 win over Boguslawski and Adam Ciccone at No. 1 doubles.

The Titans' next-best individual victory came from Jason Alexander (So. • Fond du Lac), who notched a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Rustam Saini in the sixth flight. At No. 4 singles, Scott Niemi (Sr. • Appleton) topped Boris Kampel, 6-2, 6-4.

Other UW-Oshkosh singles winners were Aidan Sauberlich (Fr. • Green Bay) in the third flight and Adam Kasper (Jr. • Franklin) and in the fifth. Sauberlich defeated Will Exner, 6-1, 6-4, while Kasper ousted Ciccone, 6-4, 7-5.

UW-Oshkosh (4-7) picked up another team point at No. 3 doubles. In that contest, Josh Hopfensperger (So. • Neenah) and Scott Niemi (Sr. • Appleton) edged Kampel and McKee, 9-8.

North Central College (2-1) acquired its lone team point at No. 2 doubles. The Cardinals won the flight as Exner and Saini defeated Kasper and Sauberlich, 8-3.

UW-Oshkosh remains in Orlando for Monday's match with Augustana College (S.D.).
