Titans Crush Red Hawks To End Regular Season

UW-Oshkosh finished its regular season with a 5-2 record after posting a 168-74 victory over the Ripon College men's swimming & diving team on Saturday (Feb. 2) in Albee Hall.

Evan DuVall (So. • Sussex), Sam Green (Fr. • Germantown) and Brian Markovich (Sr. • Colgate) each won two events for the Titans. In the breaststroke races, DuVall clocked times of 1:06.25 at 100 yards and 2:29.14 at 200 yards. Green achieved a 400-yard individual medley time of 4:50.42 and a 1,650-yard freestyle mark of 18:49.65. Markovich showed his versatility by winning the 100-yard butterfly (59.04) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.98).

Four other events featured a Titan at the top of the leaderboard. Eddie Dominguez (Sr. • Milwaukee) captured first with his 50-yard freestyle of 23.72, as did Zach Hogan (Fr. • Milwaukee) with his 59.02 in the 100-yard backstroke. Quin Lenz (Jr. • Oshkosh) touched the wall first with his 1:56.52 in the 200-yard freestyle, and Val Mikitchik (Fr. • Menasha) added a 5:24.79 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Bobby Theer (So. • Green Oaks) placed second in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.16, while teammate Elliot Bartheld (So. • Onalaska) earned third at 1:01.17. Theer then added a 24.31 in the 50-yard freestyle for second.

Other second-place performances came from Dominguez in the 100-yard freestyle at 51.28 and Nelson Figueroa (So. • Pleasant Prairie) in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:31.05.

UW-Oshkosh was the runner-up in both relays. The 200-yard medley group of Markovich, Cole Becker (So. • Menomonee Falls), Josh Dean (So. • Fond du Lac) and Bryan Stoffel (So. • Wittenberg) finished in 1:47.52. The 200-yard freestyle quartet clocked a 1:38.45 with DuVall, Lenz, Mikitchik and Andrew Bores (Fr. • Oshkosh).

The Titans will compete at the WIAC Championship on Feb. 14-16 in Brown Deer.
