Molenaar Named Head Soccer Coach At Albion College

Albion College (Mich.) Director of Athletics Matt Arend announced Monday (Feb. 1) the selection of UW-Oshkosh's Wytse Molenaar as its new head men's soccer coach.

In six seasons leading the UW-Oshkosh program, Molenaar compiled a 79-23-17 record for a .735 winning percentage. The Titans advanced to three NCAA Division III postseason tournaments and were WIAC champions twice.

Two of Molenaar's players earned a total of four NCAA Division III All-America awards and nine players were granted 13 All-North Region awards by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. A total of 16 players achieved 22 All-WIAC first team awards, and three were selected as the WIAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Molenaar's 2015 squad compiled an 11-4-3 record and ranked among the top 25 Division III teams in goals-against average and shutout percentage. The Titans qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship, where it lost a 2-0 decision to St. Olaf College (Minn.) in the opening round.

In 2014, UW-Oshkosh went 14-5-2 overall and won the outright WIAC title. The Titans recorded 12 shutouts on the season, and goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska was selected as the WIAC Defensive Player of the Year.

During the 2013 season, Molenaar led the Titans to a 15-2-4 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. Titans Tony Starnes and Karl Bock were named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Year and the WIAC co-Defensive Player of the Year, respectively.

Molenaar's 2010 team compiled a 20-1-3 record, shared the WIAC title and reached the semifinal round of the NCAA Division III Championship. The Titans concluded the season with 18 shutouts and outscored their opponents by a 62-9 margin. Molenaar was named Coach of the Year for both the WIAC and the NCAA Division III North Region.

Molenaar was UW-Oshkosh's assistant coach from 2004-08. He has served as the coaching director for FC Green Bay since 2000. Originally from the Netherlands, Molenaar came to the United States as an exchange student in 1988. He played collegiate soccer at NCAA Division II California State University-Dominguez Hills from 1990-92.

Molenaar earned a business administration degree from UW-Oshkosh in 2006.

Albion College finished the 2015 season with a 5-13-1 record, including an eighth-place mark of 3-11 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
