Titans Score Twice In Each Half To Defeat Falcons

The UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team established a new season high for goals in a 4-1 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday (Sept. 27) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

The Titans, who led 2-0 at halftime, received goals from four different players – Karl Bock, Jonathan Stanley, Jacob Hernandez and Scott Brugioni. Stanley registered his second goal of the season while the others notched their first of the year.

Bock opened the scoring for UW-Oshkosh on a 3-yard shot off an angled free kick by Jacob Hernandez in the 26th minute (25:49). Bock received the pass on the left side of the goal and tapped it past Concordia University Wisconsin goaltender Alec Brew.

Stanley scored the second UW-Oshkosh goal on a 5-yard shot off a rebound in the 35th minute (34:43). After Trent Allison sent a shot from the right that was deflected by Brew, Stanley corralled the loose ball directly in front of the net and deposited his shot as the Falcon defense scrambled to recover.

UW-Oshkosh (5-4-1) held advantages of 8-1 in shots and 4-1 in corner kicks in the first half.

Early in the second half, UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Sam Gabrilska made a diving one-handed save on a 20-yard breakaway shot by Concordia University Wisconsin leading scorer Keegan Van Dusseldorp. Gabrilska dove to his right and collected the carom while sprawled on his back, but Van Dusseldorp scored his seventh goal of the season on his next shot, a 7-yard header off a free kick by Diego Campos in the 59th minute (58:36).

UW-Oshkosh took a 3-1 lead when Javier Simon assisted on a 15-yard shot by Hernandez that went past reserve Concordia University Wisconsin goalie Dillon Pallex.

Brugioni scored UW-Oshkosh's fourth goal on a 40-yard blast. The Falcons' Pallex secured the ball with two hands, but rolled backwards into the goal.

Gabrilska finished with four saves, including three in the second half. Brew made two saves in the first half for Concordia University Wisconsin, while Pallex allowed both of the shots he faced in the second half to score.

UW-Oshkosh ended the match with 13 shots and five corner kicks. Hernandez and Nick Gonzales led the Titans with two shots each.

Concordia University Wisconsin (3-7) put all five of its shots on goal, including three by Van Dusseldorp, and attempted two corner kicks.
