Titans, Yellowjackets Play To Overtime Tie

The UW-Oshkosh and UW-Superior men's soccer teams settled for a 1-1 double-overtime tie after battling through wind and steady rain on Saturday (Sept. 28) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (5-0-4/0-0-1 WIAC) doubled UW-Superior (4-4-2/1-0-1 WIAC) in shots, but needed a goal from Evan Krause in the game's 66th minute (65:11) to force its fifth overtime match of the season.

UW-Superior took a 1-0 lead when Ben Royce scored off a pass from Nate Engel during the 32nd minute (31:39) of action.

UW-Oshkosh finished the match with 29 shots and 10 corner kicks. The Titans attempted 14 shots in the first half, including 11 on goal. UW-Oshkosh's five overtime shots featured three in the first session.

Jacob Hernandez led UW-Oshkosh with seven shots. The Titans also received four shots from both Trent Allison and Tony Starnes and three by Faisal Bah.

UW-Superior concluded the contest with 14 shots, including three on-goal attempts by Royce and Matt Kelley. The Yellowjackets, who earned just one corner kick, launched six shots in the first half and three in the second overtimr period.

Royce led UW-Superior with five shots, while Kelley and Brian Grand followed with three each.

Both goalkeepers played all 110 minutes, with UW-Oshkosh's Nick Barry saving nine shots and UW-Superior's Matt Elder 15.

UW-Oshkosh, which entered Saturday's match ranked 11th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, is the host of St. Norbert College on Wednesday (Oct. 2).
