Titans Defeat Knights On Late Overtime Goal

Faisal Bah scored with 93 seconds left in the second overtime period to give the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Wartburg College (Iowa) on Sunday (Sept. 15) at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Bah, who attempted just one previous shot, tallied his match-winning goal on a kick from five yards out. A pass from Tony Starnes assisted his score.

After a scoreless first half, Wartburg College (3-2-2) took the lead on a goal by Dan Nadeau in the game's 62nd minute (61:25). Credited with an assist on Nadeau's 15-yard scoring kick was Michel Levine.

UW-Oshkosh (4-0-3), which entered the match ranked 14th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, tied the score on a header by Jonathan Stanley in the contest's 77th minute (76:28). His goal followed a serve by Michael Duggan.

UW-Oshkosh finished the game with 15 shots and five corner kicks. The Titans attempted seven shots in the second half and three during each of the two overtime sessions. Jan Nachtigall and Tony Starnes led UW-Oshkosh with three shots each.

Wartburg College took nine shots and earned four corner kicks. The Knights launched five of their shots in the second period. Wartburg College was led by the three shots from Nadeau.

The contest featured eight goalkeeping saves, five by the Knights' Mason Bandre and three by the Titans' Sam Gabrilska. UW-Oshkosh also had a defender block a shot from going into the net.

UW-Oshkosh, which has played four consecutive double-overtime contests, travels to Concordia University Wisconsin on Thursday (Sept. 19).
