Five Titans, Lewis on All-WIAC Men’s Basketball List

MADISON, Wis.- Four players and head coach Matt Lewis of the UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team earned All-WIAC honors on Tuesday.

Senior forward Levi Borchert was named the WIAC Player of the Year for the second season in a row and became the third Titan to win the award in back-to-back seasons. Ralph Sims (1977, 78) and Tim Dworak (2002-03) were Oshkosh's previous back-to-back winners. The 2020 WIAC Newcomer of the Year also secured his third consecutive All-WIAC First Team nod. He led the league with 294 rebounds, averaging 10.9 rebounds per game, and ranked fourth with a 54.9 shooting percentage from the field, fifth with 15.5 points per game and ninth with 30 steals. He recorded 16 double-doubles in the 2022-23 season and became the 37thTitan in program history to reach 1,000 career points. He currently sits at 16th with 1,207 points and third with 832 rebounds. 

Senior guard Hunter Plamann was named to the All-WIAC First Team for the third consecutive year as well. He ranks in the top-five in the league in assists (74) and three point shots made (63, 42.0 percent). Senior guard Eric Peterson earned his first All-WIAC First Team honor and his third consecutive All-Defensive Team nod. He led the conference with 46 steals. 

Senior guard Quinn Steckbauer earned an All-WIAC Honorable Mention and sophomore forward Connor Jenkins was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Head coach Matt Lewis was named the WIAC Coach of the Year for the second straight year and the third time since he took the helm of the Titans for the 2018-19 season. He led Oshkosh to their 15th regular season championship and 12th NCAA tournament trip. Oshkosh finished the year with a 21-6 (13-1 WIAC) record, winning 12 games in a row between January 7 and February 24. 

The Titans continue play on Friday at Kolf Sports Center in the first round of the NCAA tournament at 7:05 p.m. against Fontbonne University (Mo.).
