Titans to Return Home to Face the Pointers

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team is returning to Kolf Sports Center on Wednesday, Jan. 18 to face the UW-Stevens Point at 7:00 p.m. The Titans are currently on a five-game winning streak against the Pointers, last losing to them on Jan. 21, 2019, in the semifinal round of the 2019 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) tournament.

Previewing the Titans

Oshkosh holds sole control of first place of the league standings with a 5-1 WIAC record. Their overall record sits at 12-5. The Titans have the best defense in the league, allowing only 59.8 points per game, holding opponents to 42.1 percent from the field, 33.2 percent from three, 67.5 percent from the line and 30.5 total rebounds per game. Senior guard Hunter Plamann has made 36 threes (43.4 percent) so far this season, both good for fourth in the league. Senior forward Levi Borchert leads the league with 180 total rebounds, averaging 10.6 per game. He also leads in both individual rebounding category. Sophomore forward Jonah Rindfleisch has recorded 17 blocks, good for fourth and senior guard Eric Peterson sits at second with 29 steals, averaging 1.7 per game.

Previewing the Pointers

Stevens Point is currently tied for sixth place in the league standings with UW-River Falls at 2-4. Their overall record sits at 9-8. Junior guard Jake Buchanan is fourth in the league with a 75.6 shooting percentage from the line. Junior guard AJ Makinen leads the league in assists (61), averaging 3.6 per game. Makinen also is in the top five in steals (25).

Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List

The seventh year of the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List was announced on Monday by Small College Basketball. The list includes players from NCAA Division II and III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA teams. Oshkosh's Levi Borchert was named to the list for the second year in a row. He was joined by WIAC competitors Logan Pearson from Stevens Point and Ethan Anderson from UW-La Crosse. Borchert is one of three Titans that have made the Top 100, joining Adam Fravert (2020) and two-time nominee Ben Boots (2018-19). The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations include season statistics, individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. The list will be reduced to the Top 50 players on Feb. 15, Top 25 on Mar. 15, finalists on Apr. 1 and the award winner will be announced on Apr. 3.
