Titans Fly by Falcons on Alumni Day

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team defeated the UW-River Falls Falcons on Saturday night at Kolf Sports Center on Alumni Day. Levi Borchert was presented a commemorative ball by head coach Matt Lewis before tip-off for his reaching 1,000 career points on Dec. 20. 

First Half Summary

After tip-off, the game stayed within four points until the Titans went on an 8-0 run to take a 23-11 with nine minutes left in the first half. Another 6-0 by Oshkosh effectively eliminated an 8-0 run the Falcons went on, with the score sitting at 37-25 at the half. 

First Half Leaders

The Titans went 38.2 percent (13-of-34) from the field, 31.3 percent (five-of-16) from three and 85.7 percent (six-of-seven) from the line. Borchert led Oshkosh at the half with 11 points, going four-of-eight from the field and three-of-four from the line. Eric Peterson followed with nine points. 

The Falcons went 39.1 percent (nine-of-23) from the field, 33.3 percent (one-of-three) from three and 100 percent (six-of-six) from the line, led by Dylan Parker. He scored eight points off three-of-seven from the field and two-of-two from the line. Three Falcons recorded three rebounds.

Alumni present at the game were welcomed home by the Titans faithful at halftime, greeted by Athletic Director Darryl Sims.

Second Half Summary

Falcon, Logan Jedwabny opened scoring in the second half with a three after 1:20 of play. River Falls kept the scoring up, pulling to score to 37-33 before Oshkosh scored their first basket. The teams traded points until the Titans scored nine-straight starting at 11:30. The run ended with a score of 58-40. For the last 11 minutes of the game, Oshkosh and River Falls traded points. The game ended with a score of 68-55.

Full Game Leaders

Oshkosh shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) from the field, 26.9 percent (seven-of-26) from three and 84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the line. Borchert led Oshkosh with 13 points and 15 rebounds. He went five-of-nine from the field, three-of-four from the line and recorded six offensive rebounds. Eric Peterson finished with 11 points and Will Mahoney led the bench with nine of his own. Mahoney recorded a career-high three steals.

River Falls shot 38.9 percent (21-of-54) from the field, 30.8 percent from three (four-of-13) from three and 69.2 percent (nine-of-13). Jedwabny finished the game with 13 points, going four-of-eight from the field, three-of-four from three and two-of-two from the line. He was followed by Dylan Parker, who scored 12 points. Two Falcons recorded six rebounds. 

Looking Forward

The Titans return to action at home on Jan. 11 to take on UW-Whitewater at 7:00 p.m. Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night will take place on Wednesday.
