No. 3 Titans Open Season With a Win

OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh turned it on late in the first half and never let go in a season-opening 76-63 win over Lawrence University (Wis.) in front of a crowd of 744 in Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans are currently ranked No. 3 in the nation by D3hoops.com.

Titan Leaders

Levi Borchert led the Titans with 20 points, going 8-9 from the line and 6-10 from the field. He also had 11 rebounds, with a block and an assist.

Eric Peterson had a team-high two blocks to go with three steals, six rebounds and 11 points.

Hunter Plamann had a strong game off the bench, finishing with nine points, pulling down four rebounds and stealing three balls.

Lawrence Leaders

Matthew Kaznikov was the Vikings' leading scorer with 18 points. He also had four rebounds. 

Eliot Jung scored eight points, with three assists and four rebounds, going 6-8 from the line.

Arnav Jain was the leading scorer coming from the bench, with seven points. 

Game Summary

The Titans scored the first two points of the game 25 seconds into the first half with a layup assisted by Will Mahoney but gave up the lead with a Kaznikov layup that made the game 7-5. Oshkosh would trail by as many as 12 points, before an eight-point run made up of two Plamann 3-pointers and a layup brought the game back within four. They held on, keeping the game within six, and scored the last seven points in the first half to take a 31-30 lead with 15 seconds left. 

Oshkosh never let the Vikings retake the lead the rest of the game, outscoring Lawrence 45-33 in the second half. Borchert would score 13 of his 20 points and Plamann would score eight of his 11, in the second half. They opened the half with a 7-0 run, Borchert scoring three and Peterson scoring four. They ended the game with a 6-0 run of free throws, four from Borchert and two from Jonah Rindfleisch.

Michigan Road Trip

The Titans head to Michigan to play Calvin University (Mich.) at 4 p.m. CST on Friday and Hope College (Mich.) at 4 p.m. CST on Saturday.
