Borchert Named To D3hoops.com All-America Second Team

Junior forward Levi Borchert became the fourth UW-Oshkosh men's basketball player to receive multiple All-America awards from D3hoops.com when he was named to the 2022 NCAA Division III Second Team.

Borchert, who collected All-America Third Team honors from the online organization in 2021, was one of 25 players selected to this year's All-America squad.

Joining Borchert on the 2022 Second Team were guards Marcus Azor of University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Lukas Isaly of Marietta College (Ohio) and Jake Rhode of national runner-up Elmhurst College (Ill.) and forward Miles Mallory of national champion Randolph-Macon College (Va.).

Previous UW-Oshkosh players collecting a pair of All-America decorations from D3hoops.com were Tim Dworak (2002 & 2003), D.J. Marsh (2009 & 2010) and Jack Flynn (2019 & 2020).

Borchert averaged 18.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game this year while shooting 61.9% from the field as UW-Oshkosh compiled a 23-4 record and captured Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles before going on to reach the second round of the Division III Championship. He also totaled 100 offensive rebounds, 43 assists, 25 steals, 16 blocked shots and 15 double-doubles.

Earlier this month, Borchert was voted the 2022 D3hoops.com Region 9, National Association of Basketball Coaches District 9 and WIAC Player of the Year. He ranked 15th nationally in field goal percentage and 19th in double-doubles.

Borchert scored at least 13 points in all but two of UW-Oshkosh's 27 games this season, tallying a career-high 32 points on 14 of 20 shooting from the field to go along with 15 rebounds against UW-River Falls on Jan. 22. Borchert opened January with a stretch of four conference games in which he averaged more than 25 points and 10 rebounds, starting with 23 points on 11 of 12 shooting from the floor and 11 rebounds against UW-Whitewater on Jan. 5. Borchert then compiled 25 points and eight rebounds at UW-River Falls on Jan. 8, and 23 points and nine boards at UW-Platteville on Jan. 19 before exploding for a career-best scoring performance against UW-River Falls.

Borchert's season highs also include 18 rebounds against St. Norbert College on Dec. 21, six assists at Concordia University Wisconsin on Nov. 8 and four steals against Ripon College on Dec. 30.

Borchert, shooting 63.4% from the field during his first three seasons, goes into his senior campaign with career totals of 851 points, 538 rebounds and 98 assists in 63 games played.

Players selected to the 2022 D3hoops.com All-America First Team were guards Buzz Anthony of Randolph-Macon College, Jack Davidson of Wabash College (Ind.) and Matthew Schner of Emory University (Ga.) and forwards Matthew Leritz of Illinois Wesleyan University and Ryan Turell of Yeshiva University (N.Y.). Anthony and Turell were repeat selections from last year's All-America First Team.
