
Borchert Receives National Team Of The Week Honors
Junior forward Levi Borchert averaged 27.5 points and 12 rebounds in UW-Oshkosh wins over UW-Platteville and UW-River Falls to earn a spot on the five-member D3hoops.com Men's Basketball Team of the Week for games played Jan. 17-23. It is Borchert's second D3hoops.com Team of the Week award, following his selection for the period of Feb. 15-21, 2021.
Borchert compiled 55 points against UW-Oshkosh's two Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals by shooting 60 percent (21-35) from the field and 61.9 percent (13-21) from the free throw line. He also totaled 24 rebounds (9 offensive), two assists and one steal.
During the Titans' 83-67 road win over nationally ranked UW-Platteville on Jan. 19, Borchert scored 23 points with nine rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes of playing time. He made 7 of 15 shots from the field and 9 of 14 free throws against the previously unbeaten Pioneers.
In UW-Oshkosh's 89-84 home win over UW-River Falls on Jan. 22, Borchert scored a career-high 32 points with 15 rebounds and one steal in 38 minutes of action. He converted 14 of 20 shots from the field and 4 of 7 free throws against the Falcons. The double-double was Borchert's WIAC-leading ninth of the season.
UW-Oshkosh (15-2) entered the week ranked fifth and UW-Platteville second in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com.
Borchert, who was selected to the 2021-22 D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Third Team, leads the Titans with 19.1 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game this season while shooting a team-best 62.7 percent (131-209) from the field.
Borchert currently paces the WIAC in rebounding while ranking third in the league in points per game, fourth in field goal percentage and 10th in steals per contest. Nationally, Borchert ranks 15th in Division III in double-doubles, 19th in field goal percentage and 31st in rebounds per game.
Joining Borchert on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week were guard Marcus Azor from University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, guard Jakigh Dottin from Nichols College (Mass.), forward/guard Lyle Tipton from Geneva College (Pa.) and forward Matthew Leritz from Illinois Wesleyan University.
