Borchert Chosen To Preseason All-America Basketball Team
UW-Oshkosh junior forward Levi Borchert was selected to the 2021-22 D3hoops.com Men's Basketball Preseason All-America Third Team.
Borchert was named a 2020-21 D3hoops.com Third Team All-American and All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team after averaging 14.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 assists per game while shooting a league leading 66.7% from the field to help lead the Titans to a 5-2 record during an abbreviated schedule due to the novel coronavirus pandemic that also canceled last year's NCAA Division III Championship.
Borchert is the program's fourth player to receive D3hoops.com Preseason All-America honors, joining Ben Boots (2018-19 Honorable Mention), Jack Flynn (2019-20 First Team) and Adam Fravert (2019-20 Honorable Mention) since the online organization started the awards in 2010-211.
Borchert, the 2019-20 WIAC Newcomer of the Year, has averaged 10.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 65.5% from the floor and producing eight double-doubles in 36 career games during his two seasons at UW-Oshkosh.
The D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Third Team also included forward Ryan Algier from University of Rochester (N.Y.) along with guards Nyameye Adom from Wheaton College (Ill.), Connor Delaney from Johns Hopkins University (Md.) and Wyatt Cook from UW-La Crosse.
The D3hoops.com Preseason All-America First Team featured guards Buzz Anthony from Randolph-Macon College (Va.) and Jack Nolan from Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) in addition to forwards Josiah Johnson from University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas), Ryan Turell from Yeshiva University (N.Y.) and Luke Rogers from Tufts University (Mass.).
UW-Oshkosh enters the 2021-22 season ranked 17th in the country by D3hoops.com. The Titans, who open the season at home against Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday (Nov. 6), return all five starters from last year's team that led the WIAC by scoring 80.3 points per game and paced the league in 3-point percentage (.418), and made 3-pointers (10.6) and assists (13.7) per contest.
The Titans' run of five straight trips to the Division III Championship is the longest active streak in the WIAC and the fourth longest in league history. UW-Oshkosh, the 2019 national champion and 2018 runner-up, reached the second round of the NCAA postseason in 2020.
