Four Titans Represented On Academic Honors Court

Four members of the UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court for the 2020-21 academic year.

Titans earning recognition were Tommy Borta, Sam Fredrickson, Eric Peterson and JT Petrie.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding achievement on the basketball hardwood and in the classroom.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically and own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher from schools competing in the National Collegiate Athletic Association or the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Borta, a junior, owns a 3.534 GPA as a social science major. The 2017 Wausau West High School graduate was a member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll in 2018, 2019 and 2021 and the UW-Oshkosh Dean's List once.

Borta played in five of UW-Oshkosh's seven games this past season and totaled one rebound and one steal. His 27-game UW-Oshkosh career includes 19 points, 17 rebounds and four assists.  

Fredrickson, a senior, possesses a 3.165 GPA as a communications major. The 2017 Fond du Lac High School graduate was a member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2020 and 2021 and the UW-Oshkosh Dean's List once.

Fredrickson appeared in three games for the Titans this past season and totaled three points. His 11-game UW-Oshkosh career includes eight points, two rebounds and one steal.

Peterson, a junior, holds a 3.795 GPA as a finance major. The 2018 Batavia (Ill.) High School graduate was a member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2019, 2020 and 2021 and the UW-Oshkosh Dean's four times.

Peterson started all seven games for UW-Oshkosh this past season and averaged 8.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 51.2 percent (22-43) from the field. The 2021 WIAC All-Defensive Team selection grabbed 11 rebounds during UW-Oshkosh's 88-75 loss to UW-Platteville on Feb. 3 and scored 17 points during the Titans' 77-68 victory over UW-Platteville on Feb. 5.

Peterson has totaled 368 points, 268 rebounds, 110 assists, 64 steals, 22 blocked shots and 65 3-point baskets during his 68-game UW-Oshkosh career. He was a starter in each of the Titans' last 36 games played.

Petrie, a junior, has a 3.474 GPA as an accounting major. The 2018 Sheboygan Falls High School graduate was a member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2019 and 2021.  

Petrie played in six UW-Oshkosh games this past season and totaled five points and one rebound. His 32-game UW-Oshkosh career includes 54 points, 26 rebounds, 18 steals and 14 assists. Petrie started eight games for the Titans during the 2019-20 season.

A total of 17 WIAC student-athletes were named to the 2020-21 NABC Honors Court.

The Titans compiled a 5-2 record during an abbreviated 2021 season and ranked 12th nationally in the final D3hoops.com poll.

UW-Oshkosh, the 2019 national champion and 2018 runner-up, had made five consecutive trips to the Division III postseason before the 2021 tournament was canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

2020-21 NABC Honors Court Release
