Borchert Named All-Central Region

UW-Oshkosh men's basketball sophomore forward Levi Borchert was selected to D3hoops.com's NCAA Division III All-Central Region First Team.

Borchert, the 2020 D3hoops.com Central Region Rookie of the Year, earned First Team accolades after averaging 14.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor during the abbreviated 2021 campaign.

Borchert becomes the program's ninth player to garner D3hoops.com All-Central Region recognition and the fifth to receive First Team honors, joining Ben Boots (2019), Tim Dworak (2002, 2003), Adam Fravert (2020) and D.J. Marsh (2009, 2010).

Borchert produced four double-doubles this season to help the Titans to a 5-2 record. Borchert, who finished the season seventh in the country in field goal percentage, ranked second in the WIAC in rebounding and eighth in assists per game.

Borchert had a string of three consecutive double-doubles, compiling 11 points and 14 rebounds in a 77-68 win over UW-Platteville on Feb. 5, 17 points and 12 boards during a 78-59 victory at UW-Whitewater on Feb. 12, and 16 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in an 86-66 rout at UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 17. Borchert ended the season with his fourth double-double, a 16-point and 10-rebound effort, during a 75-72 setback at UW-La Crosse in the WIAC Championship semifinals.

The five-member D3hoops.com All-Central Region First Team also included Nyameye Adom from Wheaton College (Ill.), Wyatt Cook from UW-La Crosse, Matthew Leritz from Illinois Wesleyan University and Quentin Shields from UW-Platteville. Adom was tabbed Central Region Player of the Year while Austin Kirby from Blackburn College (Ill.) was voted the region's Coach of the Year. Wisconsin Lutheran College's Jacob Stoltz received Central Region Rookie of the Year honors.

UW-Oshkosh, which concluded the 2021 season ranked 12th in the country, paced the conference by scoring 80.3 points per game and listed ninth nationally with a .418 3-point field goal percentage. The Titans, the 2019 national champions and 2018 runners-up, had made five consecutive trips to the Division III Championship until the 2021 tournament was canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
