Noone To Visit Brazil As Member Of All-Star Basketball Team

UW-Oshkosh all-conference guard Charlie Noone will represent the United States when USA Sports Tours & Events conducts its annual Division III men's basketball tour of Brazil this week.

Noone, who enters his senior season with the Titans, is one of 10 players on a squad that will be guided by Benedictine University (Ill.) head coach Keith Bunkenberg.

Other players on the USA Division III Men's Basketball Team are Devin Buckley from UW-River Falls, Edmund Fitzgerald from Castleton University (Vt.), Michael Gutierrez from Macalester College (Minn.), Mike Hollenbeck from Medaille College (N.Y.), Eric Houska from Colorado College, Cory Huff from Grove City College (Pa.), Brayden Olson from Benedictine University, George Riefenstahl from Farmingdale State College (N.Y.) and Zach Smith from Hamline University (Minn.).

The USA contingent is scheduled to arrive in Brazil early Tuesday (July 18) morning. Following an afternoon practice session in Jundiai, Sao Paulo, the squad will conduct a youth clinic at the Clube Jundiense.

The team will play four games against local professional club teams, beginning with Wednesday's (July 19) contest against Araraquara. Other games are slated for Saturday (July 22) against Mesquita, Sunday (July 23) against Queimados and Monday (July 24) against Fluminese.

Players and coaches will experience aspects of Brazilian life through city, school, and sports club visits during the trip. While in Rio de Janeiro, the squad will stay at Copacabana Beach and tour the Christ the Redeemer Statue and Sugarloaf Mountain, two of the most recognizable landmarks in the world.

The team returns to the United States next Wednesday (July 26).

Noone started 27 of the 28 games he played for UW-Oshkosh this past season and received All-WIAC first team honors after averaging 13.5 points, 2.8 3-point field goals and 2.7 rebounds per contest. He led the WIAC with 79 3-point baskets while ranking fifth in the league in 3-point field goal percentage (.418), 12th in scoring and 15th in field goal percentage (.464).

During the 2015-16 season, Noone collected All-WIAC honorable mention recognition after averaging 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 3-point field goals in the 28 games (26 as a starter). Noone led the WIAC with 70 3-point baskets while ranking 14th in the league in scoring.

Noone played in all 26 games during the 2014-15 season and averaged 3.4 points per game.

Noone has totaled 796 points, 195 rebounds, 167 3-point field goals and 94 assists while starting 53 of UW-Oshkosh's 82 games the past three seasons.

UW-Oshkosh compiled a 17-11 record last season and participated in the NCAA Division III Championship for the second straight year. The Titans tallied a 9-5 WIAC record to finish second in the league for the second consecutive season.
