Ellis Named Defensive Backs Coach, Special Teams Coordinator

Matt Ellis has been named the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach for the UW-Oshkosh football program, Head Coach Peter Jennings announced Tuesday (June 28).

Jennings said that he is lucky to have Ellis on his team. "He has a proven track record as a player and a coach," he said. "He is a great recruiter and an extremely hard worker."

Ellis said that he is grateful for Coach Jennings allowing him the opportunity to be a part of the Titan football program. "I am very excited to join such an awesome program here at UW-Oshkosh. I know big things are ahead and I cannot wait to get to work," he said. "I am looking forward to getting to know the many people that make the Titan football family and UW-Oshkosh so special."

Ellis formerly served as the defensive backs coach at Benedictine University (Ill.) for two years. He helped coach the Eagles to a 7-1 conference record.

Ellis also worked two years at Millikin University (Ill.) where he also coached defensive backs and special teams. His role at Millikin also included serving as the head of video coordination and head travel coordinator.

Ellis played college football at Rhodes College (Tenn.), where he helped the Lynx to a conference championship in 2013.
