Four Titans Named To NFF Hampshire Honor Society

UW-Oshkosh senior linebackers Steve Forner, Branden Lloyd, Sam Olszewski and Jake Thein have been named to the 2017 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.

The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout his college career.

A total of 1,103 players from 302 schools qualified for membership in the society's 11th year, both new single-year records in the history of the program.

UW-Oshkosh was one of three WIAC programs to have players recognized by the 2017 NFF Hampshire Society. UW-Stout had six players earn membership while UW-Whitewater had five.

With the help of Forner, Lloyd, Olszewski and Thein, UW-Oshkosh compiled a 13-2 record this past season and advanced to the championship game of the NCAA Division III postseason.

Forner owns a 3.404 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a business marketing major. The four-year letter winner played in 46 games during his UW-Oshkosh career and totaled 144 tackles, including 11.5 for a loss. In 2016, Forner earned All-WIAC honorable mention recognition after recording 64 tackles and 8 tackles for a loss.

Lloyd holds a 3.597 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major. The four-year letter winner appeared in 48 games during his UW-Oshkosh career and counted 193 tackles, including 34.5 tackles for a loss and 14.5 sacks. The two-time All-WIAC first team selection recorded 66 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks in 2016.

Olszewski possesses a 3.259 cumulative GPA as a physical education major. The four-year letter winner played in 37 games during his UW-Oshkosh career and marked 28 tackles, including 3.5 for a loss. In 2016, Olszewski registered nine tackles, including one for a loss.

Thein has a 3.403 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major. The three-year letter winner participated in 35 games during his UW-Oshkosh career and compiled 79 tackles, including two for a loss. Thein totaled 61 tackles this past season, including two for a loss.
