Brown Invited To Packers Rookie Minicamp

UW-Oshkosh senior defensive back Cameron Brown was invited to participate in a rookie minicamp by the National Football League's Green Bay Packers.

The two-day camp, which will be held Friday and Saturday (May 5-6) in Green Bay, is for unsigned players and rookies who were recently drafted or signed free agent contracts with the Packers. Brown is among 13 NCAA Division III players to either sign free agent contracts or be invited to a NFL team's rookie minicamp, according to D3football.com.

Brown is seeking to become the third UW-Oshkosh player since 2006 to sign a professional football contract. Former Titan tight ends Bob Docherty and Joe Sommers signed free agent deals with NFL teams in 2006 and 2015, respectively.

"I was pretty excited when I learned I received the invite from the Green Bay Packers," Brown said. "I am now ready to get to work and take the next step forward in my career."

Brown received a rookie minicamp invitation after excelling at a regional scouting combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and reaching 43 inches in the vertical jump.

This season, Brown helped UW-Oshkosh to a 13-2 record and its first appearance in the NCAA Division III championship game. He registered 64 tackles, including 40 solo and 3.5 for loss, and 11 pass breakups.

Brown also intercepted one pass, recovered one fumble and blocked one kick on the way to All-WIAC first team honors. He produced a season-best eight tackles in four games, including during NCAA postseason victories over John Carroll (Ohio) and Saint John's (Minn.) universities. Brown's standout senior season also included an interception in a NCAA tournament win over Washington University in St. Louis and a fumble recovery in the Titans' 10-7 loss in national title game.

Brown, who earned All-WIAC second team laurels in 2015, concluded his four-year UW-Oshkosh career with 107 tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one sack in 38 games.
