Wettstein Named WIAC Football Player Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh placekicker Eli Wettstein earned WIAC Football Player of the Week honors for his performance during the Titans' 77-0 victory over Morthland College (Ill.) on Sept. 24.

Wettstein was named the league's award winner on special teams, while UW-Eau Claire's Matt Knapp (wide receiver) and Kevin Sanchez (defensive back) were recognized on offense and defense, respectively.

Wettstein converted all nine of his extra points, including five successful kicks in the first quarter, to tie his own school record and that of current teammate Greg Rand. He also tallied nine extra points during a UW-Oshkosh win over UW-Stout in 2015.

Wettstein recorded seven touchbacks on his 10 kickoffs against Morthland College. His three kickoffs rerurned were stopped at the Patriot 20, 9 and 10-yard lines.
