Several Titans Ranked Among NCAA Football Statistical Leaders

Sophomore quarterback Brett Kasper was among several UW-Oshkosh football players who ended the 2015 season ranked among the NCAA Division III statistical leaders.

Kasper, this year's WIAC Offensive Player of the Year, completed 202 of 315 passes for 2,968 yards and 27 touchdowns against six interceptions in 12 games played. He ranked 10th nationally in both passing efficiency rating (167.7) and yards per completion (14.69), 17th in passing yards, and 20th in passing touchdowns.

Other Titans finishing among the top 25 in a statistical category were sophomore running back Dylan Hecker, senior defensive lineman Trevor Fiegel, sophomore kicker Greg Rand, senior wide receiver Zach Kasuboski and junior defensive back Johnny Eagan.

Hecker ranked 12th in the nation with 19 rushing touchdowns, while Fiegel listed 13th with three fumble recoveries and Rand 17th with a .769 (10-13) field goal percentage and 20th with 0.91 field goals per game. Kasuboski ranked 22nd with 12 receiving touchdowns and Eagan 23rd with two blocked kicks.

UW-Oshkosh concluded the 2015 season with an 11-2 record. The Titans went undefeated in seven WIAC contests to capture their second league title in four seasons. UW-Oshkosh advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Championship before suffering a 31-29 loss to UW-Whitewater. The Titans ended the year ranked fifth in the country by D3football.com.

UW-Oshkosh ranked third nationally in kickoff return average (26.63), 10th in fewest penalties per game (4.15), 17th in winning percentage (.846), 24th in fewest penalty yards per game (41.69), and 25th in turnover margin per contest (1.00).

Offensively, the Titans ranked fifth in red zone efficiency rating (.900), seventh in first downs (308), eighth in third down conversion rating (.503), 13th in passing efficiency rating (166.61), 15th in yards per contest (500.3), and 17th in points per game (42.3).

UW-Oshkosh's defensive unit ranked third in red zone efficiency rating (.538), fourth in points allowed per game (11.2), fifth in touchdowns (4), 11th in passing efficiency rating (93.97), 15th in passing yards allowed per game (159.1), 20th in yards allowed per contest (283.8), 22nd in turnovers gained (29), and 25th in interceptions (17).

Under ninth-year head coach Pat Cerroni, UW-Oshkosh produced its fifth straight winning season for the first time since 1921-25. The Titans scored a school-record 550 points and tallied four shutouts in the same season for the first time since 1933.
