UW-Oshkosh Begins Conference Play At UW-Stout

UW-Oshkosh looks to keep its defensive momentum going in the conference opener at UW-Stout on Saturday (Oct. 5). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Williams Stadium in Menomonie.

The Titans (3-0), ranked eighth by D3football.com, have not allowed a touchdown in their opponents' last 26 possessions. UW-Oshkosh is giving up just 3.7 yards per play and leads the league with 13 sacks.

Last week, UW-Oshkosh surrendered 75 total yards during its 56-3 win over Alma College. Nick Olla threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns, while Cole Myhra ran for 69 yards and two scores.

Olla tops the WIAC with 769 passing yards this season. His explosive targets include Caleb Voss (190 yards), Cory Wipperfurth (165) and Joe Sommers (143). Myhra owns 247 yards on the ground, to go with 122 from Jake Dostalek.

UW-Oshkosh is looking for its 10th consecutive WIAC win, a streak accomplished only by UW-Whitewater in the last 30 years.

The Blue Devils (2-1) captured their first two games by scores of 35-20 over Dakota Wesleyan and 13-7 over the University of Jamestown. Fourth-ranked North Central College then topped UW-Stout, 41-14.

Trevor Morning is the key to UW-Stout's offense. He leads the WIAC with 342 yards on 18 receptions. Quarterback Hank Kujak has totaled 679 yards and four touchdowns through the air, while the run game features Adolfo Pacheco (176 yards) and Tanner Kuehn (154).

UW-Stout has been efficient on fourth down this year, converting 8-of-10 attempts. The Blue Devils are also the least-penalized team in the league with 32 yards per game. Defensive back Tyler Naatz tops the squad with 27 tackles.

This series dates back to 1947, with UW-Oshkosh holding a 33-23-1 advantage. The Titans have won the past three meetings, including a 27-18 decision in Menomonie last November.
