South Sweeps WFCA All-Star Football Classic

The South squads dominated as UW-Oshkosh hosted the 36th Annual Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WFCA) All-Star Classic on Saturday (July 14) at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

In the game featuring Division 4-7 players, the South posted a 25-17 victory. The Division 1-3 contest ended with a 37-0 rout in favor of the South.

The South team jumped out to a 25-3 lead in the Division 4-7 contest. On the third play of the game, Logan Emendorfer (Platteville) lofted a 34-yard touchdown pass to Kenneth Walker (Big Foot) in the back of the end zone. Alex Resnick (Cambridge) then ran for a nine-yard score during the second quarter to take a 17-3 lead. The North used a pair of touchdown throws by Kyle Cody (McDonell Central Catholic) in the final 6:08 to conclude the scoring.

Kicker Jack Russell (Waunakee) was the star of the Division 1-3 exhibition. Russell connected on field goals of 49, 36, and 29 yards, while recording touchbacks on seven of his eight kickoffs. The South used touchdown runs from Leo Musso (Waunakee) and Adam Vesterfelt (Janesville Parker) to gain a 14-0 first-quarter cushion. Matt Misiewicz (Marquette) then scored on a 33-yard catch to make it 21-0.

This was the 31st time the WFCA All-Star Classic was held in Oshkosh. The event showcases the top seniors from the previous fall season.
