Titans, Falcons Meet In Regular Season Finale

Both UW-Oshkosh and UW-River Falls look to snap an extended losing streak as the two teams face off in the season finale on Saturday (Nov. 15). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Ramer Field in River Falls.

The Titans (3-5/1-5 WIAC) will try to close the season on a positive note after dropping their last four games. UW-Oshkosh opened the season 3-1, including a 17-16 win over fifth-ranked Ohio Dominican University (NAIA) and a 9-7 victory over UW-Stout in conference play. Last Saturday (Nov. 8), the Titans fell, 28-0, to UW-Platteville after losing to UW-Stevens Point in overtime, 34-33, the week before.

Jeremy Roach (So. • Deerfield) has carried the Titans over the past two games. Against the Pointers, Roach earned WIAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after returning a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown as well as taking a reception for a 71-yard score. He then accounted for 124 of UW-Oshkosh's 140 offensive yards against the Pioneers last Saturday (Nov. 8). Roach ranks first in the league with 24.7 yards per kickoff return this season.

The Titans' leading rusher on the year is Steve Levonowich (Jr. • Kenosha), who has carried 108 times for 350 yards. Craig McClelland (So. • Union Grove) leads the WIAC in passing efficiency thanks to his 65 percent completion rate with 706 yards and five touchdowns. UW-Oshkosh's leading pass-catcher is Levonowich with 19, while Juston Wara (So. • Oshkosh) owns 15 receptions for 179 yards and three touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, James Taraboi (Jr. • Grafton) sits fourth in the WIAC with 63 tackles to go along with Nate Heard's (So. • Milwaukee) top conference ranking of 10 pass breakups.

UW-River Falls enters the contest on a three-game slide with a 3-6 overall record and a 2-4 mark in conference play. The Falcons' offense sits second in the WIAC with an average of 352 yards per game. Storm Harmon calls the signals, throwing for 1,858 yards and eight touchdowns this season. His top target is Michael Zweifel, who leads the league with 75 catches, 925 yards and four scores. Matt Pollack tops UW-River Falls with 615 rushing yards on 142 carries while Joel Yogerst has ran for 10 touchdowns. The defensive unit features Ben Arata, the owner of 59 tackles and three interceptions in 2008.

In the all-time series dating back to 1920, UW-River Falls holds a 34-17-1 advantage. The Titans have won three of the last four meetings, including last season's 23-20 victory in Oshkosh. Andy Moriarty capped his collegiate career with 214 rushing yards and two touchdowns as Joe Patek chipped in with 249 yards passing. Zweifel totaled 12 catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns in defeat.
